This III International Congress on Masculinities and Equality: Communication, Culture and Audiovisual Media (CIMASCIGUAL III) will feature lecturers, speakers and session coordinators who are experts in the field of nationally and internationally recognized prestige.

THE LEARNING AND TRANSMISSION OF PATRIARCHAL, HEGEMONIC AND TRADITIONAL MASCULINITY THROUGH AUDIOVISUAL AND COMMUNICATION MEDIA.

Impact of audiovisual media on the perception of masculinity and violence. Violence among men. Wars. The glorification of the male warrior. The militarization of masculinity in films and series. Violence in cinema and television. etc.

Masculinity, audiovisual media and male violence:

Prevention and reproduction of gender violence in audiovisual media. Gender violence(s). Violence against women as “empowerment” of the female character. Macho sexual violence. Media and masculinity: strategies for the prevention of gender violence. Study of the role of audiovisual media in sex education and prevention of gender violence, including the different forms of violence and their representation.

Male sexuality and its audiovisual representation:

Audiovisual media and sexual education. Pornography. The trivialization of prostitution “consumption” through mass consumption series. Pornography and sexual violence in mass consumption series.

For the eight scientific sessions on communication that we offer at the Congress, we seek experts from different latitudes of the planet to present their contributions. We give priority to participation, but there is also the possibility of sending communications to non-attendees, so that they can share their knowledge, experience and research, giving a global and at the same time local vision of the phenomenon, enriching the debate and generating possibilities for concrete action.
